Before your appointment
A short phone interview is encouraged.
In this interview you will be asked some relevant questions in relation to your suitability for treatment. If you are suitable, it is important that you gather up relevant information... i.e. previous scans/xrays (if you have had any) and a list of your medications for the initial assessment.

Assessment & Treatment
To gain best results, experience tells us there must be a block of 4-5 sessions in a 2-3 week period. If you cannot commit to this time frame of treatment we are very happy for you to come along, but you may not be giving yourself the best chance of a successful outcome.
The first session will involve taking a very thorough history of your symptoms. By listening to you and taking down this information this helps us gain a baseline for your symptoms. This helps us assess your improvement along the way.
As well, a physical examination of your upper neck will be performed using the Watson Headache® Approach. The first session usually takes one hour and in that time we will attempt to explain the rationale for the treatment and why/how treatment will be applied.
At no point will you be forced to be involved in any treatment without your consent. Any questions that you may have are highly encouraged. At no stage will treatment involve manipulation 'cracking' of your neck. Treatment involves graduated sustained pressure to the neck only.
Subsequent sessions are aimed at working with the information gathered in the first assessment and treatment to change the underlying dysfunction. The subsequent sessions usually involve a 30 minute consult.
You should see changes in your intensity, frequency and duration of your headache/migraine symptoms within the first 4-5 sessions. If there is no significant change in your symptoms within these sessions, treatment will be ceased. We aren't in the practice of offering false hope for our clients, but we can claim a 70-80% success rate for positive outcomes.
Most commonly you will be shown specific simple exercises to help maintain any improvements made during treatment. This is an integral part of any improvements you will make and involves 1-2 minutes of your time, 4 times a day.
After the initial block of 4-5 sessions with improvements in your symptoms, sessions are usually spread out further e.g. 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months and so on.
Integral to your success is teaching you what to do to maintain the improvements that are made from the first block of treatment.
